Mobile machines have a very long product life. In some cases, they are in use for decades. If important (electronic) components are no longer available to manufacturers and customers, this can lead to high follow-up costs for redesign and storage. Our obsolescence management minimizes these risks and ensures the long-term availability of STW components.
As a manufacturer of electronic assemblies for harsh and rugged use, long-term product availability is essential. This is because component manufacturers - especially in view of the ever faster innovation cycles in electronics - repeatedly cancel products completely. These are consequently no longer available (i.e. obsolete). For unprepared manufacturers, discontinuations in particular represent a major challenge.
We prevent this through stable processes within STW, such as a well maintained product database. In addition, STW is a member of COG Deutschland e.V. (Component Obsolescence Group), which has over 150 members throughout Germany. This membership ensures that we are involved in the life cycle planning of components right from the start. Continuous monitoring during the product life cycle ensures that the risk of sudden component discontinuation is minimized. We thus ensure the functionality, quality and supply capability of our products for years to come.
