30 YEARS OF STW; 30 YEARS OF INNOVATIVE FORCE FROM THE ALLGÄU REGION

This year, Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) in Kaufbeuren, a manufacturer of high-tech products in the fields of microelectronics and power electronics, is celebrating its 30th company anniversary.

Founded on 01 July 1985 by Katharina and Wolfgang Wiedemann, the company initially developed the precision pressure measuring device "Digisens-PT", and two years later entered into the field of control technology.

In 1995, KMW GmbH, Kaufbeurer Mikrosysteme Wiedemann, was founded in order to develop and produce their own pressure measurement cells. Just prior to the new millennium, the company started out in the field of eMobility, which in the meantime has proven extremely successful.

In 2004, the company installed their own cleanroom for the manufacture of thin-film sensors.

The Wiedemann Group has continuously developed new products and specialised in several fields of business. As a result, the company is today highly successful in the international fields of control technology, measuring technology, teleservices and hybrid technology. In the course of this, STW has become a globally-leading manufacturer of electronics for mobile machines, agricultural and special purpose machines. In collaboration with their partners, STW realises projects in the fields of sensor technology, microelectronics and power electronics and in embedded and application programming. Most of the approximately 400 employees work at the headquarters in Kaufbeuren. Furthermore, the company has subsidiaries in Great Britain (Sensor-Technik UK Ltd. in Bedfordshire), in the USA (STW-Technic LP in Atlanta) and numerous foreign representations in Europe, Australia, America and Asia.

In the years 2002, 2008 and 2014, STW was awarded the prize "Bayerns Best 50" (“Bavaria's Best 50”). Numerous further prizes followed.

In 2013, the founders of the company received reinforcement for the company management through the appointment of Ms. Sonja Wiedemann and Dr. Michael P. Schmitt.
