Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) has again been recognized as one of the strongest and fastest growing “Mittelstand”-companies in Bavaria. On July 26, the Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, personally presented the "BAYERNS BEST 50" award to Sonja Wiedemann, majority shareholder and managing director, and Florian Huber, chief technical officer at the Kaufbeuren based company.
STW is one of the most innovative companies in the field of advanced electronics for mobile machinery. The award "BAYERNS BEST 50" recognizes the outstanding performance of the company economically. The award, judged by an independent jury and presented by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, is presented to medium-sized companies for outstanding growth in sales and employment. Sonja Wiedemann and Florian Huber received the award at Schleißheim Palace in Munich from Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger. STW receives the award for the fifth time in its 35 year history.
STW employs over 500 people at four locations across Germany and a representative office in China. "We’re very pleased to receive this important award. It confirms that we have taken the right approach through the peak of the pandemic and through the ensuing supply chain disruptions, while continuing to focus on innovation and growth," explains Sonja Wiedemann, owner and managing director of the company. "The fact that we can continue to train skilled workers in large numbers and offer young people excellent opportunities in the Allgäu region is very important in the current situation."
STW supplies system technology to leading construction, agricultural, forestry and municipal machinery manufacturers. In doing so, they have become one of the leading developers and suppliers of automation and digitalization solutions, and are actively shaping the current transformation to smart farming and networked construction sites. The company’s products ensure greater efficiency and sustainability, particularly in agriculture and construction, as Florian Huber explains: "Without intelligent controls, sensors and communication systems, self-driving harvesters and autonomous construction vehicles would simply not be possible. We have long recognized the trend towards high levels of automation and the relevance of the Internet of Things in our industries. We are supporting our customers to successfully implement these technologies in their machines and so meet current and future market needs. Our customers appreciate, and benefit from, our strength in innovation and our approach to business which is focused on successful, long term partnerships."
STW is an active partner in various research projects in cooperation with renowned universities and institutes, which is an important foundation for staying at the forefront of innovation and emerging technology. The "BAYERNS BEST 50" award shows that the company’s chosen path is being recognized beyond the boundaries of its own industry.
