40 International teams participated in the third Formula Student Electric (FSE) .The young engineers on each team had a year to design a race car using their skills in disciplines such as acceleration, endurance, energy, design and financial planning.
"This year, more cars than ever before were driven, which also emphasizes the development of the teams from year to year," said Tim Hannig, chairman of the Formula Student Germany. "Due to the great response to the competition class of electric vehicles, it is now possible in 2014 to have even more students participate."
The purely electric cars all rely on advanced lithium-ion batteries as a power source and four of them also rely on a battery management system from Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH (STW).
We would like to congratulate the race team KA-RaceIng on its third place finish in the Formula Student Electric on the Hockenheimring. With the "KIT13e" the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has created one of the best electric racers in the competition.
In addition to the super strong Karlsruhern, the "eSleek13" of DHBW Engineering Stuttgart as well as the teams "Schanzer Racing Electric" at the Technical University of Ingolstadt and "power Augsburg" at Augsburg University were equipped with a BMS from STW.
In a competition where simply being invited to participate is a success, their finishes (14, 15 and 22) are high achievement that deserves our respect and applause. STW is excited and honored to be part of their success.
