The ‘OTA CODESYS v3 Access’ plug-in for MACHINES.access permits the user remote access to their machine via any conventional PC and the TCP/IP network infrastructure available. Here, it is possible to access explicitly STW control units as well as external control units, which have been developed using CODESYS v3.
Through the installation of one of the communications modules from the STW TCG family into the machine, several possibilities for network connection are generated, e.g. wireless connection via the GSM-/WiFi network, or wired connection via Ethernet (in workshops).
The user, who can be a machine manufacturer, an application developer or a system integrator, wishes, for example, to access this particular control unit on the machine in case of a Support issue or for prototype development.
In this case, they can install the ‘OTA CODESYS v3 access’ per machine via MACHINES.access . During the installation, the CODESYS v3 gateway with a basic configuration is installed on the TCG module.
In order to make the bridge between the user PC and the machine TCG, or respectively the CODESYS v3 control unit, the user must activate the following in MACHINES.access and on the PC:
MACHINES.access:
1. The TCG must log into the STW VPN server. This can be done by starting the VPN application per TCG.
2. Start the CODESYS v3 gateway on the TCG module. This can be done by starting the CODESYS application per TCG.
PC:
1. The PC must log into the STW VPN server. This can be done by starting the already-installed OpenVPN client.
2. Start the CODESYS v3 development environment with the required application
a. Configure the CODESYS v3 gateway: Here, the IP displayed per TCG from the MACHINES.access CODESYS v3 application must be set, e.g. 10.23.0.133
b. Start the CODESYS v3 gateway in order to reach the required control unit
c. Carry out the CODESYS login
Now the user can diagnose, debug, parameterize, simulate and visualize their CODESYS v3 application live without having to be on-site, working on the control unit.
